Leaving Home

It's Saturday - moving day.

It's amazing when you suddenly realise that your whole life can fit into one, compact space (although I use the term rather loosely, as I've already filled up 4 van-loads full of stuff, and I'm still going, so it's not THAT compact). I had an interesting conversation with my brother today (who was very lovely coming over to help - thanks Darren). We were talking about how moving out of a house marks new chapters and beginnings in people's lives. I don't think there is a better way to start a new phase than to move out of your home; upending everything that makes you feel comfortable and secure and starting all over again.

I finished up at both of my schools this week. I had a lovely term. I am so grateful to everyone at OLMC for making me feel so welcome. It really is a special place, and now I know first hand what my mum's been going on about all these years! (Aunty) Gaye is an amazing woman who is so highly respected and well loved. The staff is full of "G & T" people, and I have most definitely had a good dose of "Enrichment" after working there.

I really loved being able to "wean" myself off St Brendan's, too. It's a hard place to say goodbye to and doing so has been one of the hardest decisions I've ever made. I'm really glad I had the opportunity to work with Annie and all the Enrichment kids.

I can't wait until I can start posting these messages from my new home! Not long now - only another five more sleeps. It's an advent that seems to be going on forever, but at the same time, it's like I'm on a rollercoaster, going up that first HUGE and scary hill, knowing that the eventual thrill is going to come, and there's no going back, but not knowing how I'll handle it all when I get there. Alison also likened this feeling to childbirth - You dread it and can't wait for it all at the same time, because once it's happening, you know that nothing will ever be the same again!

PS - I also need to send a huge thank you to my lovely Dad and to Tony and Daniel for all the help they have given AB and I today. Men. They just know stuff.
